Beau Vallon gets new children’s centre

The children in our photo have something to smile about.  They are the first customers at the newly opened day-care and activity centre at Beau Vallon  which has just been set up by Survival Ark Foundation (SAF).

SAF is chaired by Francoise Larue from Bel Ombre, who has many years of experience in the public sector assisting the community.

The centre is managed by Theresia Julie who is currently the vice-chairperson.  Theresia, who is a mother of 3 children, has 18 years’ experience as a primary school teacher and also leads a church youth group.

SAF was happy to welcome Mia Dunford and her sister Aggie Dent to the launch this week, as Mia was their first sponsor. Mia and Aggie donated paper,  books, beads, paintings and wooden toys to SAF.

Mia, who is a keen environmentalist, said she will be at SAF’s disposal to show  the children how to plant vegetables and how to paint pictures.

This special day-care centre intends to provide mental stimulation and activities to encourage the youth to be more creative as well as to learn to interact socially, thus enabling them to grow up to be responsible adults.

SAF has plans to open a centre close to Beau Vallon school, to be within reach of students of primary to secondary school age.
