What We Do

It offers a holiday special programs for children whose parents who are/are not working and cannot afford a child minder or placement and have children that are left at home with no adult supervision. These programs help keep children safe from the possible health and social influences and problems by developing solid educational, healthy physical, emotional and social skills in children. It also help in preventing antisocial activities in the districts.

Whether is it children, schools, families, communities or individuals from vulnerable communities such as sex workers and drug addicts being exposed to abuse, violence and other dangerous activities, the Survival Ark Foundation is there to offer support, guidance and mentorship to help its clients break the cycles and become aware of the many mechanisms set in place to help them.

Since our foundation, we have mostly serve in northern Mahé, Seychelles’ main island but progressively we need to decentralise… Many of the people we work with, are referred to us by word of mouth or through the schools. These methods offer us the opportunity to not only counsel the person referred, but it also gives us open access to that person’s family, extended family, friends and community.

In order to make ourselves more visible, we use social media and partnerships with organisations as needed. We have been able to expand our reach through these methods and now have people further afield reach out to us for help.

Once we’ve helped families identify and address problems within, we support by helping them to develop and maintain healthy and functional family relationships. These can be helpful when dealing with the following:

• difficulty communicating or expressing emotions
• conflicts between siblings
• inconsistent parenting
• marital problems
• developing a functional and healthy relationship following a divorce
• adapting to a major change
• dealing with a chronic illness or death in the family

We do talks, presentations, parenting; workshops and trainings for targeted groups in the communities we work in. These can be parents, students, teachers, etc. We also offer afterschool classes and homework clubs, helping students attain better grades in their exams.
